Inspiration!
Hi everyone!
How was YOUR week?
Skinnybeaches has now been alive and kickin’ for almost 2 months! And in line with Jessica it’s time to sum up the journey so far…
These weeks of official display have helped (forced?) me to “routineatize” my days in order to achieve our common goal! It has also taught me that after bumps in the road you get back in the saddle, that slips is nothing more than that. It is how you continue that defines you. I have always had a tendency to beat myself up when I failed keeping a certain diet or didn’t found the motivation for a workout, resulting in total abandonment of all healthy measures what so ever. Blaiming myself for not being strong enough to keep it up.. I am strong enough to keep it up, YOU are strong enough to keep it up! If you fall today you get up tomorrow! As long as you rise again you will eventually reach your goal!
That’s the most important learning I’ve made during this period. Have you reached any new insight during this challenge? Have you learned something new about yourself? Something surprising? Please share your wisdom and thoughts with us!
‘Til next week: keep calm and carry on :-)

This app is fantastic for keeping track of your diet. Tell it how much you weigh and what your goal is and the app will calculate a daily calorie count that’s right for you. When you eat, select the food from the database - and Lose It! keeps tabs. You might think it’d force you to starve yourself, but we’ve always found some calories left over for a late-night snack!

So, let’s get it started!

…and counting!

So what is her secret of a perfect body?
Well, she works out!
Her workout routine includes four-day-a-week, 90-minute circuit training sessions full of planks, pushups and walking lunges in a gym.

What about her diet?
Oatmeal with a handful of blueberries, salads with chicken and balsamic vinaigrette for lunch and fish and veggies for dinner. (Lively also blends fruits and veggies with a juicer, and avoids noshing on too much dessert by eating just a “fork-full.”)

But, she is like any other human being with her…guilty pleasures…
…actress loves to cook and eat Greek food.
So, get inspired by Blake: workout, have your diets, but also, don’t be afraid to do what you love!

Weeks have passed and the best thing about the Skinny Beaches Challenge is that it has given me a routine. I can’t wait to go to my Zumba class or even better, classes, every week. They have become part of my schedule and I plan around them when possible. Who would have believed that some weeks ago? And I do feel it’s a very good workout for my whole body!
I have one issue though, that I know I have to work on! Since it’s quite hard to talk about it, I’ll illustrate what my inspiration picture looks like…

…and I’m quite far away from that.
Not that I think I’ll ever be able to look like that, but at least tone the back part of my thighs, which has always been my challenge. In order to get there I do think I need to try a different technique.
The problem here is the time.
A few years ago I tested something which I actually enjoyed a lot as well. Friends usually laugh when I mention the Vibrator!!!…. I guess it’s not called that way but it’s exactly what it is. A giant vibrator! Also known as the Power Plate! Depending on how much you rest in between each set, it can take from 20-40 minutes to go through your whole body and work with all your muscles, even those you’ve never felt before.

Through different positions on the vibrating platform, like sit-ups, squats, etc., the muscles are exposed to involuntary reflex muscle contraction many more times per second that without the vibration, which helps develop strength, and muscle tone and definition. It’s not hard to do, and once you’ve had a proper explanation of the positions and what to think about, then you can do it on your own and in the time you need. You can find them in many different gyms as well as specialized centers for power plate training. Luckily there is one close to home, and this will be my additional training, at least once a week.
